When I had first read the fascinating story of Around The World In 80 Days by Jules Verne, I had assumed that such dreams are possible only in the world of fiction. But with time I became wiser to the real possibilities of traveling the world and without all the struggles that Mr. Fogg had to endure. There is a much simpler solution to it. Just become a head of a State. The bigger, the richer, the better for you!
Just look around and you shall find BIG leaders taking luxurious trips with full diplomatic immunity and security. Now that’s traveling in style!
Our dear President Trump is making headlines again with his recent trips to his luxury resort in Florida, which has already cost the exchequer $24 million (which is estimated to be roughly as much as Barack Obama spent on travel in the first two years as President). The average monthly travel bills of Donald Trump is estimated to be a hefty $10 million and the US taxpayers are bearing the brunt of it all.
Seems like President Trump is mostly interested in playing golf as he has now made 14 trips to his golf course in the last ten weeks; obviously, he has forgotten all the criticism he laid thickly on Obama for going to play golf when he was the President.
But Trump is not alone in making extravagant travel expenses, Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, in his first year as the PM was found less in the country and more flying around all the places one could possibly think about visiting. In the seven remaining months of 2015, after becoming the PM, the exchequer had to bear a cool $1.17 billion on his foreign travels.
So, on an average, the Indian government succeeded in spending $167 million per month on foreign travels of their Prime Minister (and then the PM made sure that maximum taxes were paid to keep up with his travel needs).
Moral of the story: If you want to travel and that too, travel in style, with literally no cost to bear, just hurry up and become a politician already!!
