Riz Ahmed

Time's 100

The article on Riz Ahmed was penned down by Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton fame. After a mind blowing performance in The Night Of, this famous actor, rapper, soared to great heights in the eyes of his fans and followers. His roles in films such as Rogue One: A Star War Story, The Road to Guantànamo, Four Lions and Nightcrawler adorned him with accolades and praise in equal measure. His thought-provoking raps in The Hamilton Mixtape and others, including “Post 9/11 Blues” and “Englistan”, earned him a huge fan following. He is also an activist in support of Syrian refugee children intending to help them as much as possible. This man’s versatile performance and philanthropic attitude earned him a place in Time 100.

Narendra Modi

Time's 100

Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi reigns as a top-notch person who has connected to thousands of people across the globe and has taken massive steps to improve India’s economic, geopolitical and cultural conditions. Mr Modi, an excellent orator as he is, won the hearts of millions through his moving speeches. He took great efforts in maintaining global harmony and personally took pains to visit the dignitaries of as many countries as possible in order to showcase India as a country which welcomes peaceful relationships with its peers. Some of his bold decisions such, as surgical strikes and demonetization, had a huge positive impact on the country. An article on him was contributed by Mr. Pankaj Mishra.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma

Time's 100

This great entrepreneur hailing from India seized the moment when demonetization wreaked a flurry of confusion and frustration among the citizens to promote Paytm, his digital payments startup, to help people pay their bills until fresh notes found their pockets. Sharma’s Paytm wallet came to the rescue of all and sundry, from a white collar employee to an auto rickshaw driver, who, true to the statement “Paytm karo” used as a promotional tagline of the company, literally dwelled on that for as long as a month. Through Sharma, India had a taste of the benefits of digital wallets and online transactions. An article describing Mr Sharma’s achievements was written by the famous Nandan Nilekani himself.

Truly, these individuals are men of substance and have carved a niche on the global platform through their hard work and positive attitude!
