Tune in Tuesdays – Raftaar

Our #TuneInTuesdays for this week is dedicated to Dilin Nair, better known as Raftaar! Dilin was born in Kerala (India) to Delhi based parents. His fascination for rap songs began when a friend of his from school gave him a CD with the most popular raps of that time. The ninth grader, Raftaar, got his first exposure to music through that CD.
Dilin was born in Kerala (India) to Delhi based parents. His fascination for rap songs began when a friend of his from school gave him a CD with the most popular raps of that time. The ninth grader, Raftaar, got his first exposure to music through that CD.
Raftaar’s musical journey began with Mafia Mundeer, an urban music group formed by the renowned Bollywood rapper, Honey Singh. However, he did not work in association with this group for too long. After splitting from this group, he was signed by Punjabi music band RDB, for three Punjabi songs; and it was these songs that brought our favorite Indian rapper into the spotlight.
Raftaar has also worked in various Bollywood Movies. He also made his first collaboration with Hollywood through a rap song in the movie Passengers. His song “Swag Mera Desi” won the Best Urban Song award at the Britannia Music Awards in 2014.
Currently, Raftaar is working on his debut music album Zero to Infinity, whose first song named “BMM” went viral on YouTube and fetched over 5 million views in just 24 hours! We look forward to the other releases from his album.
