Pakistan & Russia Go The Fashion Way To Strengthen Ties
Here’s a dose of history for you: Pakistan-Russia relationship was severely damaged during the Cold War; however, the two nations have been trying to repair their damaged relationship since a decade now. Recently, Pakistan & Russia adopted fashion as a means to strengthen this fragile bond!
Russia recently hosted the first-ever Pakistani fashion show in its capital city Moscow! The initiative for this collaboration was taken by a prominent Pakistani businessman Shahzad Shaikh & the Embassy of Pakistan.
This event amused us at many levels! To top them all, eminent designers from Pakistan collaborated with Russian models to showcase their impressive collections, which were inspired by Pakistan’s rich heritage & cultural diversity!
Pakistan is often treated as an underdog in today’s competitive scenario, irrespective of the basis, be it sports or the country’s development status! We were beyond delighted to see Cheena Chhapra and Arsalan Iqbal, famous designers from Pakistan, elegantly tear apart these stereotypes with their stunning collections.
Cheena Chhapra, who overawed us with her Friends Forever collection at the fashion show, specializes in women’s wear and firmly believes in comfort above all else. She loves to experiment with fabrics & her designers often reflect the same! Cheena brilliantly captures the beauty of Pakistan in her designs.
Arsalan Iqbal, from House of Arsalan Iqbal, is well known and his designs highly sought after worldwide! Committing to transform one’s imagination into a beautiful piece of clothing, House of Arsalan Iqbal specializes garments & accessories for both men and women. At the fashion week, the House of Arsalan Iqbal showcased their spring/summer collection Ceremonial!
Besides these spectacular Pakistani designers, the show also saw participation by several Russian designers; this grand amalgamation of the two nations created a magic worth witnessing! It is overwhelming to see nations reaching for varying platforms to deepen their relationship. We hope to see many more such shows in the future!
