Bodhi Beats, a new music series featuring South Asian musicians is all set to rock New York!
The idea behind the series is to showcase the talent of musicians with South Asian roots who are creating innovative music but often struggle to find opportunities and venues to share their art. With this event, the organizers hope to bring the community together to show their support for these musicians. A second goal is to highlight one or two social causes to support at each event and raise some funds through ticket sales. Last but certainly not least, this show will be fun as you are guaranteed to enjoy good music and share the experience with your friends!
The first event is on Friday, January 19th and will feature Indian Fusion Music. One of the performers is Shilpa Ananth, a singer who has roots in Indian classical music and blends Jazz, Soul and R&B influences into her songs.
Shilpa has curated the program and invited two other performers, Ganavya and Karavika, who will bring their own musical style to the evening.
Do join in to kick off the series at DAG Modern at 595 Madison Avenue, Suite 708. As an added bonus you will have beautiful art surrounding you as you listen to music and enjoy some light refreshments.
Tickets are $20 and all funds from ticket sales will be donated to charity:
A Free Bird – A nonprofit organization in New York & New Jersey dedicated to helping young people fight cancer through the arts and;
Sakhi for South Asian Women – A community-based organization in the New York metropolitan area committed to ending violence against women.

Not competent enough to sit idle and stare as the world goes by, Pallavi is optimistic to a fault and believes in building her world on her own rather than depending on others to make things right.
