She took a 15-year hiatus from movies after her wedding with Boney Kapoor and then returned to the silver screen with English Vinglish in 2012 and was last seen in Mom (2017), where her role was greatly admired by the critics. She made her way to become India’s first female “superstar” as she was greatly admired not only in Hindi cinema but also in a number of Tamil, Telegu, Kannada and Malayalam Movies.

Sridevi was surely a powerhouse and a great dancer of her times. Many actresses looked up to her and were inspired by her exceptional skills. She has won a number of accolades including the Filmfare awards and the fourth highest Civilian honor by the Government of India – the Padma Shri.

Sridevi was a big support and a mentor to her daughters Janhvi and Khushi and was so excited for Janhvi’s debut movie Dhadak that she was seen accompanying her and guiding her all the way. Sadly she couldn’t live long enough to see Janhvi’s debut in Bollywood. (Co-incidently, Mona Kapoor, Boney Kapoor’s first wife, also passed away before Arjun Kapoor’s debut movie).

As a matter of fact, Amitabh Bachchan who has worked with the actress in a number of movies had a strange premonition just hours before her death.

Many celebrities took to Twitter to express their grief over the news and have offered their condolences to the family.

The fans of this amazing actress will perhaps take a long time to come to terms with the news and she has actually GONE TOO SOON!! Her death is nothing less than the end of an era.

Rest in Peace!
