Among the many talented actresses reigning in Hollywood, there’s one Desi diva who has recently joined the squad and her name can never go unnoticed. She’s an actress, comedian, writer, and a sensation. She proudly basks in the glory of her own creation of comedy series The Mindy Project, a sitcom that only became more and more popular with better ratings with each new season. We just cannot help but hail and appreciate Mindy Kaling!
With a daughter in tow, Mindy has started off 2018 with a bang and her new series Champions is receiving rave reviews. She appears in the first two episodes of the show as Priya, a single mom from Ohio, who has raised a theater-crazed teenager, who wants to go to a performing arts high school in New York – where he does not know that his missing father lives. Mindy Kaling, or Miss Vera Mindy Chokalingam, is an American heartthrob who has had many heads turn at awe through her spectacular acting in the famous series’, such as the Fox/Hulu sitcom, The Mindy Project (she also wrote, created, and produced it) and the NBC sitcom The Office. In 2010, the NBC sitcom was also nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series. Apart from these, Mindy has also penned down two memoirs Why Not Me? and Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? that have topped the charts for New York Times’ best selling books.
This Desi diva began as an intern on the show Late Night with Conan O’Brien and paved her way until The Mindy Project where she played Mindy Lahiri. The famous series The Office indeed was a mockumentary, which was the US adaption of the UK series with the same name and Mindy was specially hired as a writer-performer for the show. It was a huge hit and received amazing ratings.
Mindy also ventured behind the camera as a director for the webisode The 3rd Floor for The Office and Season 6 episode titled Body Language. In her earlier days, she co-wrote a play titled Matt & Ben and no wonder it was named in Time magazine’s Top Ten Theatrical Events of the Year.
Mindy Kaling has also been a part of films that include The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Unaccompanied Minors, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, No Strings Attached, and the latest one being A Wrinkle in Time, in which she played Mrs. Who.
We are totally excited to see the mystic Mindy next in Ocean’s 8 where she will share screen space with all the Hollywood biggies Helena Bonham Carter, Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, and Rihanna.
We wish the Desi diva all the very best and await more awesome performances from her!
