Indian fashion designer Rohit Bal seems upset with the Indian fashion industry as he strongly condemns the way things are going on. He wrote a long post on his Facebook page about how the entire fashion industry is under the grip of nepotism and how celebrity star kids take advantage of their cinema lineage to make it to the cover pages of magazines just to catch eyeballs.
The ace designer, with more than three decades of experience in the fashion industry, has styled top-notch actors and actresses ranging from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor and is well accomplished in his field of work. According to Rohit Bal, the fashion industry has plunged itself into styling Bollywood actors so much so that the mass adulation of a particular character’s costume in a movie is becoming the trending fashion sense in the Indian fashion industry, which in reality is not what contemporary fashion is all about!
Rohit Bal also spoke about how fashion designers who design apparels for red carpet appearances for various actors and actresses never get paid for their work and are forced to rely upon the meager publicity they receive from these shows. The designer also admonished the fashion industry for settling down for some eye candy, styling people with no fashion sense and credibility, just because these high-profile clients have a strong film lineage. Models, who are the actual trendsetters of contemporary fashion, are being replaced by film actors due to favoritism and nepotism looming large over the industry.
Rohit Bal is visibly anguished with the fact that instead of showcasing the current trends, styles, and accessories of the industry, Indian fashion industry is falling prey to the momentary limelight.
Well, hopefully, something good will come out from all this.
