DissDash marks its presence at the NYC South Asian Film Festival. The energy at such events is always breath-taking. The filmmakers, actors, directors from all over the world make it a point to attend such kind of events.
Jitin Hingorani, Founder and the Director of the festival who has been instrumental in initiating a South Asian Film Festival in Dallas decided to launch a similar festival in New York. He plans to create his mark in both the markets. Jitin started his career in NYC and therefore this place holds a special spot in his heart. Definitely, corporate sponsorship is important and makes the events successful and thus Toyota was introduced.
Manny Bansi was happy to be the title sponsor on behalf of Toyota. They have also shared their journey in the DFW SAF festival. NYC has been a great place to develop cultural diversity and Toyota supports the Indian as well as South Asian Community since they have been the number one customers for this automobile brand and therefore reflect the values of the same. Abhay Deol, Brenden Fraser, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Usha Jadhav, Ami Sheth, Saks Afridi, Sadiq Samani, Ajna Jai, Siraj Huda, Piyali Syam, Nitin Madan were some of the actors present there. Among the directors were the talented lot comprised of Rohit Karn Batra (Line of Descent), Omar Rahim (Team Agency), Hardik Mehta (Kaamyaab), Vick Krishna (Team Freak).
These festivals serve as an opportunity for the actors as well as directors to showcase their skills and talent. “Line of Descent” directed by Rohit Karn Batra was the inaugural movie at the SYC SAFF. The event took place on 15th November 2019 at the Atman Building in Manhattan. Several other documentaries, shorts, and feature films were also screened there which were portraying themes such as surrogacy, immigration, police brutality, outcasts, and trans-genders.
