British Asian actress, host, podcaster, activist, and reality show judge Jameela Jamil as well as ‘Family Karma’s‘ Amrit Kapai have made the cut for Out100 list by Out Magazine 2020 honoring LGBTQ+ influencers that are changing the world.
This year’s 100 most influential LGBTQ+ honorees are the most diverse the magazine has featured yet. This list highlights groundbreaking individuals that have engaged in impactful changes within their respective fields. From rising artists to trailblazing activists and openly gay CEO’s these rockstars have made a difference in the world and Out Magazine is here to showcase their efforts.

It is no surprise why Jamil has made the list, the very vocal actress and host, has consistently made it her mission to call out injustices whether it is relating to the use of weight loss or misogyny. Jamil is a skilled actress as seen in her hit show, ‘The Good Place’ and her witty one-liners showcase her ability to capture an audience as she has been for years as a host both in the UK and the USA on shows like ‘The Misery Index.’

Kapai is new to the spotlight, the 32-year-old lawyer on the first reality show featuring an Indian family, ‘Family Karma.’ Already a successful Chicago lawyer, Kapai used his reality show role to be a role model and advocate for South Asians in the LGBTQ+ community. On the show, he has been able to highlight the cultural challenges faced by South Asian kids born and/or raised in America. He has also voiced his support to worthy causes such as the Black Lives Matter movement.
This year Jamil and Kapai share the spotlight with talents like singers Lizzo and Janelle Monae, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine, California state senator Scott Wiener, Trans Activist and WWII US Navy Fighter Pilot Robina Asti, ‘Riverdale’ actress and producer Lili Reinhart, actor and host, Jonathan Bennett (most known for his iconic role in ‘Mean Girls’), Middle Eastern band Mashrou Leila frontman Hamed Sinno, fashion and beauty entrepreneur Bretman Rock, and Persian origin pop singer and model Gia Woods. There are even some rockstars from the Biden-Harris campaign: Karine Jean-Pierre, Senior Advisor to the Biden-Harris Campaign and Chief of Staff to Vice Presidential Elect, Senator Kamala Harris, Reggie Greer, LGBTQ+ Engagement Director at the Biden-Harris Campaign, and Jamal Brown, National Press Secretary for the Biden-Harris Campaign
Jamil and Kapai will be celebrated with their fellow honorees at the first Virtual Honoree Induction Ceremony this coming weekend.
