Palak Paneer – The Quintessential Recipe For A Perfect Meal


Palak Paneer, an evergreen popular delicacy from North India. It is made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cubes in a smooth and creamy spinach curry infused with fragrant Indian spices. This recipe is perhaps one of the most interesting ways to include spinach in your meal.
Preparation Time: 5 – 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 – 35 minutes
Yield: Six servings
Ingredients:
1. One pound spinach leaves
2. Two cups paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cubes
3. Three tomato
4. Two green chilies
5. One-inch long ginger
6. Half teaspoon cumin seeds
7. Quarter teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
8. One tablespoon gram flour (besan)
9. Quarter teaspoon turmeric powder
10. Half teaspoon red chili powder
11. Half teaspoon garam masala powder
12. Salt to taste
13. One tablespoon milk cream
14. One and a half tablespoon of oil
Instructions:
1. Wash the spinach and boil it in half a cup of water for five to seven minutes
2. Grind the spinach to form a paste, only after the spinach has cooled down after boiling
3. Make a paste of tomato, ginger, and green chilies in a blender
4. Take a pan over medium flame and add oil to it
5. Once the oil gets hot, add asafoetida (hing) and cumin seeds
6. Saute for thirty seconds then add turmeric powder and gram flour (besan) and saute for one to two minutes
7. Add tomato paste, red chili powder, garam masala powder, and salt
8. Saute until it starts releasing oil
9. Add spinach paste and one to two cup of water
10. Cook for five minutes or until it starts boiling
11. Add paneer cubes and cook for five minutes
12. Add milk cream and mix well
13. Switch off the flame
Tips:
1. You can stir fry the paneer cubes before adding them to palak curry.
