Delicious Veg Matar Paneer Recipe For Your New Year House Party


Matar Paneer is a delicious Punjabi dish made with peas and paneer (Indian cottage cheese) in an onion- tomato-based gravy full of spices. It is best enjoyed with rice or any Indian bread like naan and paratha and it is the perfect vegetarian dish for your upcoming New Year House Party!
Preparation Time: 5 – 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 – 55 minutes
Yield: Six servings
Ingredients:
1. Two cups paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cubes
2. One cup green peas
3. One cup chopped onions
4. Half cup cashews
5. Two teaspoons chopped garlic
6. Two cups chopped tomatoes
7. One teaspoon ginger julienne
8. One teaspoon cumin seeds
9. Half teaspoon turmeric powder
10. Half teaspoon red chili powder
11. Half teaspoon garam masala powder
12. One teaspoon coriander powder
13. Two green chilies chopped
14. One and a half tablespoon of oil
15. Salt to taste
16. Cilantro to garnish
Instructions:
1. Take a pan and add half a tablespoon of oil
2. Once the oil is hot enough add garlic and saute for thirty seconds
3. Add onions and saute for two to three minutes
4. Add cashews and saute for three to four minutes
5. Add tomatoes and saute for five minutes or until tomatoes are soft
6. Keep this mixture aside and let it cool
7. Once the mixture is cold, grind it in a blender to make a fine paste
8. In a pan, add one tablespoon of oil
9. Once the oil is hot, add paneer cubes and sit fry for five minutes
10. Take out the paneer cubes and keep them aside
11. In the remaining oil, add cumin seeds and saute for thirty seconds
12. Add ginger and saute for one minute
13. Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, red chili powder and saute for thirty seconds
14. Add mixture paste and saute until it starts releasing oil
15. Add peas, salt, green chilies, and water
16. Once the water starts boiling, add paneer cubes and cook for five more minutes
17. Switch off the stove and garnish with cilantro. Your Matar Paneer is ready!
18. Serve hot
Tips:
1. Add water as per your required consistency
2. You can add milk or milk cream to make the gravy of the Matar Paneer more rich and creamy
