DissDash Presents Tune-in-Tuesdays With Monty Kataria | Episode 8

On today’s Tune-in-Tuesdays we look at some music video tidbits from the world of Bollywood, urban desi, and the global South Asian independent scene all creatively curated just for you! We talk about the music, the artist, some technicalities and help you judge for yourself whether you really need to give it your time on Youtube or not.

1. ‘Jungle Mantra’ – @vivianakadivine x @vincestaples x @kingpush x @karankanchanmusic x @netflix x @netflixin @netflixfilm

Priyanka Chopra’s latest project is Netflix’s “The White Tiger” as executive producer along with Emmy-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay. The White Tiger has some familiar faces including Rajkummar Rao and Mahesh Manjrekar are incredible and debutante Adarsh Gourav who is THE INCREDIBLE. The film besides being number 1 on Netflix in India, and in the top 3 in the US, UK, and Canada pushes the world of brown folk and then further breaks barriers with a track by India’s biggest name in hip hop – from the gallis of Mumbai and icons from Ramona Park’s Vince Staples and Pusha T from Virginia Beach. Jungle Mantra – the promo track to the official film adaptation of Arvind Adiga’s Man Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name comes towards the end of the film and this Mantra is def. A trip to the vibe the film is.

We give ‘Jungle Mantra’ 3.5 winks Watch the official video on Netflix’s Youtube channel!

2. ‘Ishq’ – @sarmadqadeerofficial x @alishbahannjum x @onetworecords

Sarmad is a guitarist, vocalist, and all over a good looking guy. From “Trump being his yaar” and him buying Burj Khalifa way before Akshay Kumar in AEROPLANE to ‘Ishq’ released with Bilal Saeed’s ONE TWO records – this gentleman is showing progress in the process. Once a background guitarist, Sarmad is making his name with the people he started off with – much respect there brother. Ishq is a beautiful song but just the over-the-top Bollywood vibes are not my vibe but overall – kudos and keep making more lovely music as ‘Ishq.’

We give ‘Ishq’ 3 winks. Watch the official video on ONE TWO’s official Youtube channel!

3. ‘Ganesh on the Dash’ – @kalysay x @papakou x @ashdotok x @daheatdakid x @rianjalimusic

From The Flight to Rebel with a Cause, to Agrabah and Brown Boy Lost – Kaly has more experience as a rapper and songwriter than most people have been fans of the new shit that’s out there. Entertainment attorney by day, podcast host by evening, probably making bangers at night – Kaly Say has got you Scared of his tan with Ganesh on the Dash. Special shouts to Jay DeHitta (@daheatadakid) for Dream But Don’t Sleep (@dreambutdontsleep) for murdering it behind the lens and killing it on the editing table. Lyrically right where it needs to be, Ganesh on the Dash will make you a roll an L and a roti at the same damn time. In today’s Tune in Tuesdays BTS – we speak to Mr. Constantly Ahead of the game just as Rainjali likes to put it – Kaly Say.

We give ‘Ganesh on the Dash’ 4 winks. Watch the official video on Mad 4 Music’s Youtube channel!

4. ‘Lamborghini’ – @khanbhaini @theshipragoyal @sycostyle_music x @rajdipshoker

I love looking at Punjabi videos honestly. Because they all look the same – I can easily watch it 🙂 No issues there at all 🙂 The track is called ‘Lamborghini’ and has a Maserati and a Range over as well including Jatt about 19 times – I think. In all genuineness, tho – Khan Bhaini has a legit voice, and the switch up at 1:42 right after Happy Birthday to you baliye is on point. Raj Shoker looks great and her nakhre is right where it needs to be at – killed it – much respect – lovely to see you in your element – both here and on BritAsia – much respect.

We give ‘Lamborghini’ 3.5 winks. Watch the video on Single Track’s official Youtube channel!

5. ‘Pehle Pyaar ka Pehla Gham’ – @jubin_nautyal x @khushalikumar x @the_parthsamthaan x @tulsikumar15

Honestly – T Series is just releasing a bunch of short films in the form of “music videos” this past few months. It takes an entire normal music video duration to go over just music, 4 lines, over the top acting vaali acting but my friends there is light at the other end of the tunnel. Jubin Nautyal and Tulsi Kumar have provided absolutely lovely vocals to ‘Pehle Pyaar ka Pehla Gham’ – penned by Javed Akhtar and music provided by Rajesh Roshan. I will of course be on the side that – the original is the original – from the 1996 film Papa Kehte Hain starring Jugal Hansraj and Mayuri Kango sung by Kavitha Krishnamurthy. This song unlike many other ridiculous T-Series drops is the one that takes the win. Def. give it your time on the world of youtube and just search the most subscribed youtube channel in the world with 156 million subscribers and hit em up with more views 🙂

We give Pehle Pyaar ka Pehla Gham 3 winks. Watch the video on T-Series’ official Youtube channel!
