DissDash presents Tune-in-Tuesdays with @MontyIsLive | Episode 12
On today’s Tune-in-Tuesdays we look at some music video tidbits from the world of Bollywood, urban desi, and the global South Asian independent scene all creatively curated just for you! We talk about the music, the artist, some technicalities and help you judge for yourself whether you really need to give it your time on Youtube or not.
1. Baggage – Arjun x Jonita Gandhi
Whether it’s Can’t forget you 5 years ago or Kaun Tujhe 2 months ago – or just a few days ago with Baggage – it is always a treat to hear the vocals of Arjun and Jonita TOGETHER! It’s dope to see Hasinth Pathirana x Jay Alam and Offroad pictures come back with this lovely visual that is Baggage! This is the Arjun that I believe both the audiences and artists want to see! Proper RnB vibes with that Hindi vibe flowing super smooth. Love, games, conversations, emotions, and fire – all flowing in Baggage. Jonita providing them Hindi vocals compliment the video and Isha Dhillon with her on-screen presence compliments the track beautifully as well! 2. Confidence – Pav Dharia x J Statik
The first thing that came to me when I saw confidence is that This is SUCH A FUN SONG! And the electric guitar solo right down the middle with the very percussion and electronic production – J Statik be killing again and again! Pav completes the track and video from the get-go to the end – as expected. Man dances, acts, and of course, composes and sings Confidence – someone get this man an International Film/Musical to script, direct, compose the OST, and act in as well! A treat to the eyes – this video is all about its visuals, keeping it 2021 with just enough class, storyline, and confidence. 3. Kiston – Jubin Nautyal x Sachin/Jigar
A super simple yet beautiful song is Kiston by the feel-good music poster boy that is Jubin Nautyal. Music is by Sachin Jigar and the track is from the OST of Roohi starring Raj Kumar Rao, Jhanvi Kapoor, and Varun Sharma. It definitely is a sweet song but not anything we haven’t heard or seen before. In terms of the music video – since it is from a film that will be releasing soon in theaters post the pandemic. – it’s not that simple judging the video but the actors’ chemistry is something that I personally wanna lookout for – as Jhanvi hasn’t still proved her credibility as an actor but here Choices in scripts and projects are def. 4. Lost – Rishi Rich x Mumzy Stranger x Kiaranee x Jagtar
Lost, one of the latest releases off of Break the Noise Records brand new EP features Rishi Rich on production duties with Mumzy Stranger x Jagtar on the vocals – written by Kiranee. Big up on Venus providing nostalgia with the sample of Hum to Dil Se Haare from the SRK and Aish starrer Josh. Mumzy always slays it in his Punjabi features and he does not disappoint at all again – Jagtar has a fresh set of vocals and vocal range that will definitely be soothing to ears for years to come. Respect to BTN records for creating a space for brand new artists and legends to come and create together. 5. Jaded – Dixi x Dj Naveen Kumar
Singer songwriter Dixi who is also the director of Jaded, her latest release produced by Dj Naveen Kumar and shot by Twinbeatz has just hit your screens and for the world to see on youtube! This is a genuine US Urban DesI Collaboration – with Twinbeatz from Chicago, Dixi from ATL/NY and now Cali – and Dj Naveen Kumar from Chi-town and California. Just on a personal note makes me really happy to see talented individuals create! 🙂 1:04 – Ga sa ga ni sa ga sa ga ni sa – love that part – visually appealing and a pleasure to the ears. The way the lyrics come up on the screen – perfect. Lovely track, beautiful music video, emphasis on elements and emotions – well done and congratulations! 🙂 We give 4 winks And Def.
