DissDash presents Tune-in-Tuesdays with @MontyIsLive | Episode 13

On today’s Tune-in-Tuesdays we look at some music video tidbits from the world of Bollywood, urban desi, and the global South Asian independent scene all creatively curated just for you! We talk about the music, the artist, some technicalities and help you judge for yourself whether you really need to give it your time on YouTube or not.

1. Pyaar Karoon – AKRM

We have a brand new Urban Desi artist all the way from Atlanta, GA! It’s always such a lovely thing to see diaspora artists bringing fresh content to the scene and doing it with pride. AKRM produced, composes, writes, and even directs his debut release Pyaar Karoon and is out now on all platforms! Shot in Atlanta and Dallas – the track is an absolute fun vibe and brings out talent and music together. The music video for Pyaar Karoon is directed by Phalguna Cavuturu and AKRM, shot by Ryzzbeatzz, and features Priya Parikh as the female lead. We give Pyaar Karoon 4 winks and you can peep it on AKRM Artist’s official YouTube channel.

2. Pind Entry – Prem Dhillon

What I love about Pind is that it is not just a music video – it is a vlog and I mean that in all respect and positivity. The journey of Prem Dhillon started just 3 years ago and he has easily been one of the most sought after names in the Punjabi Music Industry. Pind Entry is literally his entry into his Pind in a G wagon with Toyota Fortuners following him from the airport to his Pind – majha – shout outs Majha Block! Nothing fancy – just feels and a comeback home vibe that is needed in this time in our world right now – big up the Old Skool and Chan Milondi singer – Premjeet Singh Dhillon for keeping it real and sticking to your roots. We give Pind Entry by Prem Dhillon 3 winks and you can peep it on Prem Dhillon’s official YouTube channel.

3. Nadiyon Paar (Let the music play) – OG by Shamur and redone for the Bollywood film Roohi by Sachin Jigar, Rashmeet Kaur and IP Singh

I don’t know what it is with the industry and makeover and remixes, and rearrangements. But for some odd reason, I would bump this particular one. Maybe because the Original is just so fire. Let the music play was originally released by Shamur, a music group formed by Italian producers, Miss Manu Marascia and Sandro Murru. Their style is a combination of Eastern atmospheres and the classic European style. The male singer comes from Punjab, while the female voice belongs to a Sardinian woman, Teresa Solinas, best known as Terry. The new version has been composed by Sachin-Jigar and has additional vocals by the music composer duo, along with Rashmeet Kaur and IP Singh. The song opens with Janhvi arriving in a shimmery gold blouse and slit skirt, awakening sleeping ghosts with a drop of her blood. She goes on to show some energetic dance moves in a haunted haveli. Watch it for more and to watch the full-fledged – film – Roohi starring Raj Kumar Rao and Varun Sharma in addition to Janhvi Kapoor releases this week exclusively in theaters! We give nadiyon paar – 3.5 winks and you can watch the official video on Sony Music India’s YouTube channel but def. Check out the OG as well! 🙂 AGAIN!

4. Bhai Bhai – Haji Springer x Slim Swagga

Cali-based Desi Hip Hop legend Haji Springer has linked up with Slim Swagga from Sacramento, California on their new music video titled “Bhai Bhai“. The Hindi street-track is produced by Haji himself and is distributed by “Bhai Bhai is a track that highlights the reality of fake friends and people with hidden agendas teaching people not to trust nobody,” reads the YouTube description of the music video – and very rightly so. The mini-movie style music video which is directed by “Directed by BC”, depicts how some friends are really just snakes and you can’t really trust anyone these days. The video also features Haji Springer and Slim Swagga spit their harsh truths and includes cameos from K-JI and 3am Sukhi. “Bhai Bhai” follows Haji Springer’s recent collaboration with Delhi’s talented new rapper Paradox, titled “Rehne Do”. Haji seems to be on a roll I am totally here for it! We give Bhai Bhai by Haji Springer x Slim Swagga 4 winks 3.5 winks and you can watch the official video on Haji Springer’s official youtube channel.

5. Chup – Vikas x SunnyVik

Chup is the latest release off of BGBNG music and it is surprisingly a treat! Bombay as it is seen between shots and that subtle romance between the leading pair of Siddharth Nigam and Rits Badiani is pretty sweet. Vikas has a voice that will def. Be around for a while and SunnyVik on the production does exactly what is needed. Big up on the guitar straight down the middle. The market is def. Pushing the vibe of having familiar faces with new and independent musicians and I think it’s a def. Win win situation on all aspects. We give Chup 3.5 winks And. Check the official video out on BGBNG’s official YouTube channel.
