DissDash presents Tune-in-Tuesdays with @MontyIsLive | Episode 15
On today’s Tune-in-Tuesdays we look at some music video tidbits from the world of Bollywood, urban desi, and the global South Asian independent scene all creatively curated just for you! We talk about the music, the artist, some technicalities and help you judge for yourself whether you really need to give it your time on Youtube or not.
- Radha – Dhvani Bhanushali x Abhijit Vaghani
This week we’re starting with my favorite music label these days – T-SERIES. Ok, so today I’m not going to bash them or be biased. Tseries over the course of the pandemic where we saw some amazing content and music is slightly breathing again. Whether it was last week’s ‘Har Funn Maulla’ or it’s this week’s ‘Radha.’ For some odd reason I was never really a fan of Dhvani Bhanushali but the marketing and strategy behind her tracks have made her an overnight sensation which has stayed for some time. But does she and her music still have what it takes now after ‘Vaaste’? Today well do things a bit differently. YOU TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK OF RADHA BY DHVANI AND T-SERIES AND WELL TAKE IT FROM THERE 🙂
2. Pagglait – Arijit Singh ft. Raftaar x Amrita Singh
It’s Raftaar again – back to back this week – and I’m ok with it 🙂 Raftaar and Bollywood – well the good ones go well together – whether it’s Dangal or Manto and now it’s the coming of age story – a very new story actually! This is the title track from the Sanya Malhotra starrer Pagglait which releases exclusively on Netflix global on the 26th of March – this coming week! Arijit Singh makes his debut as a composer and a producer and this OST is nothing short of absolute mishthi! 🙂 Arijit and Raftaar together – is very genius. Additional vocals provided by Amrita Singh and the music is released exclusively under “Orion Music by Arijit Singh” The video is fun with a big F and I’m psyched to see what all this talent including Sanya Malhotra, Ashutosh Rana, Sheeba Chadha, Sayoni Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, and many more are ready to showcase to us on Netflix. We give Pagglait by Arijit Singh x Raftaar x Amrita Singh 4 winks and you can peep it on Orion music’s official YouTube channel.
3. Mahiya – Pav Dharia
Pav Dharia is arguably one of the most creative and ahead of their time individual in the industry. Sydney, Australia based – Mr. Dharia has been making music – well videos prior to music since what was supposed to be the end of the world – 2012 – but I guess Pav’s Music saved us 🙂 Where sometimes the industry and its folks can get very secretive and hidden behind doors – Pav Dharia has his commercials to work/collaborate straight up on his website – which I am personally pretty impressed with! Mahiya is a lovely ballad produced and written by Manav Sangha, directed by Rohit Negah. VFX and locations blend very well together and once again – super psyched for what else we have in store from this part of the world. We give Mahiya by Pav Dharia – 4 winks and you can watch the official video on Sony Music India’s YouTube channel.
4. Chemistry – Raxstar x H Dhami
As soon as I saw the names of these two gentlemen on Youtube – I got psyched – like a lil teenager. I mean I’ve been listening to them since – I think – maybe 🙂 But in all honesty – Raxstar and H Dhami are not just talent – they have shaped up the entire British Asian / Urban Desi scene for a very long time and are still releasing banger after banger! This banger is full of banter as well – Rax my man has got them acting vibes. WHAT is this behavior – at 1:32 – very nicely done! Kudos to the entire team – Gurjant Singh, New Lion Films, Sachin Patel, and of course Mumzy Stranger – from Stranger Productions! We give Chemistry by Raxstar and H Dhami 3.5 WINKS and you can watch the official video on Raxstar’s official youtube channel.
5. Nish – Waiting (Ore Nil Doriya Cover)
The very positive poster boy for Bangla music outside of Bangladesh at this day and time is definitely UK-based Nish. Syed Nishat Monsur or better known as his stage name Nish started from TV and then had the first Bengali track to reach no. 1 on the iTunes world chart with ‘Jaan Atki’ featuring Mumzy Stranger. His brand new EP is The Homecoming which is literally him coming home and a surprise is this – his latest release Waiting (Ore Nil Doriya’s) – A tribute to the legendary Bangladeshi singer, Abdul Jabbar who passed away at the age of 78 in 2017. This week’s Tune in Tuesday’s BTS we speak with Nish all the way from London on Ore Nil Doriya 🙂

Not competent enough to sit idle and stare as the world goes by, Pallavi is optimistic to a fault and believes in building her world on her own rather than depending on others to make things right.
