DissDash presents Tune-in-Tuesdays with @MontyIsLive | Episode 16
On today’s Tune-in-Tuesdays we look at some music video tidbits from the world of Bollywood, urban desi, and the global South Asian independent scene all creatively curated just for you! We talk about the music, the artist, some technicalities and help you judge for yourself whether you really need to give it your time on Youtube or not.
1. Limited Edition: @gsidhuonline x @bygbyrdpro
Bhangra instructor turned doctor turned a very dope vocalist and performer has released his debut album and its a treat to the ears. From bhangra bangers to just simply pure lyrics. Amreeka Aala has it all 🙂 Limited Edition is a call. It’s to let you know what Sardars are all about. What I like about Gurkawal Sidhu is that he doesn’t make things corny or pushy – it just honestly makes sense. Shoutouts to Byg Byrd on the music. This Canadian production and American vocals – is pure Punjabi at its finest. We give Limited Edition 4.5 winks and you can peep the official video on G Sidhu’s YouTube Channel 🙂
2. Diva – Jaz Dhami x Sama Blake
When I first saw this on the Gram – I was very happy and confused at the same time. But in a positive way! Dhami and Blake together is a unique collaboration and you have to listen to DIVA and their individual music of the past to understand why. DIVA is GOLDEN! Released under Sony Music with words by Jaz, Mellow D, Sama, and Kay V Singh – multiple languages but oke vibe. Ish takes you straight to the club, lunge, gaddi gaedi or to just to your headphones. Depends on what vibe you’re in. Sing along, dance-along, vibe along! We give DIVA by Jaz Dhami x Sama Blake 4 winks and you can watch the official video on Sony Music India’s YouTube channel.
3. Baarish ki Jaaye – @bpraak x @sunanda_ss
After B Praak genuinely deserving the National Award for Kesari – I was waiting eagerly for this track. Especially having Nawazudin Siddiqui in his first music video where both himself and singer Sunanda Sharma are performing and that too – heavenly. I gotta say Sunanda was doing her best to follow up with Nawaz and props are given where it’s due. Big up DESI MELODIES. this is a beautiful track and visual showcasing love, music, dance, religion, and Nawaaz just in his damn character. Watch it and dance to it now. Baarish or not. We give Baarish ki Jaaye 4 winks and watch it on Desi Melodies’ official YouTube channel.
4. Yaad – @asimazhar x @talhahyunus x @talhahanjum
Asim Azhar used to be known as the Pakistani Justin Bieber once upon a time. But he’s matured into an artist just like J Beebs – possibly better. Pakistan stand up. With Asim Azhar and young stunners. Been in the game for almost a decade – Tallah Anjum and Tallah Yunus showcase professionalism in purity. Yaad is visually mature. Yaad is new. Yaad is a reminisce. Yaad will be for here to stay. We give Yaad by Asim Azhar and young stunners 4 winks and you can peep the official video on Asim Azhar’s YouTube channel.
5. Nasty – Kamal Raja
Kamal Raja for some reason is one of my favorite urban desi acts. Honestly, just cuz he’s different. He doesn’t really care about what you have to say about him on what he does or what he says. His songs might not be what you always wanna see or hear but that’s what makes him pop. His own presence, whether it’s in a small room or in a big-budget music video with t series – makes him, him. Kamaal Raja. Fan following is loyalty. His latest project is called NASTY. The track is exactly that – NASTY. In a good way 🙂 Shoutouts to Chichi x Suppiah as the featured artists and AYO B – on the production. This track is desi international. It’s got Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Mongolia, and the Netherlands altogether. Dutch production with Hindi, Punjabi, Arabic, English, and Tamil vocals as well. “The king in the jungle – international” There’s always ish going down between people in the industry – but if that pushes people on both sides to make music and a body of art for everyone consistently – that’s golden. Hope both of yaal hear me 😉 We give NASTY by Kamal Raja, Chichi x Suppiah 3.5 winks and you can watch the video on kamal Raja’s offices YouTube channel.

Not competent enough to sit idle and stare as the world goes by, Pallavi is optimistic to a fault and believes in building her world on her own rather than depending on others to make things right.
