DissDash presents Tune-in-Tuesdays with @MontyIsLive | Episode 18
On today’s Tune-in-Tuesdays we look at some music video tidbits from the world of Bollywood, urban desi, and the global South Asian independent scene all creatively curated just for you! We talk about the music, the artist, some technicalities and help you judge for yourself whether you really need to give it your time on Youtube or not.
1. Insane – @ap.dhillxn x @gminxr x @gurindergill96
These guys are killing the Urban Punjabi scene without a doubt. With their Brown Munde becoming a genuine global smash hit of 2020 with their views and streams continuously rising in numbers, all their other tracks are jumping up on the charts as well. Five of AP Dhillon’s singles have peaked on UK Asian and Punjabi charts by the Official Charts Company; “Majhail” and “Brown Munde” have topped the chart. Insane brings that familiar yet vibe that works. Insane is musical, it’s composed well, shot well and the lyrics are on point. 2. Rider – @vivianakadivine x @lisasharmamusic
There is absolutely no doubt that the HIP HOP scene is at its prime. And when a track comes out with visuals as such where we have not 1 but 2 dope ass vocalists doing their thang globally – makes a huge impact. Not just for the scene but everyone on the grind, hustle and come up every day. Rider takes you through that Bollywood flashback that is needed to connect to the masses and takes it to the global streets, sand, and rides of Dubai. Lisa Mishra in that all-white suit is a boss ass bish and divine is at the end of the day divine is at his best. I wasn’t crazy about the audio frankly speaking but the visuals just give it a whole different life. It’s working and it’s here to stay. Rider is a total vibe. 3. Dil Hai Deewana – @arjunkapoor x @rakulpreet x @zarakhan x @darshanravaldz x @tanishk_bagchi
The most subscribed YouTube channel that is Bhushan Kumar’s T Series has just recently released their latest “music video” – Dil Hai Deewaana featuring Bollywood’s very own Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh in the voices of Darshan Raval and Zara Khan – produced or music by the undisputed king of remakes – Tanishk Bagchi. They like to give a lot of credit – check out their YouTube description. OK, it starts off with Dhina Dhin Da – like we didn’t need any more nepotism for the day – but at least do the damn move – Mr. Kapoor 🙂 The original track that this new one is based on is Aaa Jana Dil Hai Deewaana by a Pakistani pop singer – Hassan Jahangir. It was honestly nice to see the credits in T-Series’ Youtube Description. Hassan Jahangir gained a huge fan following in the 1980s – same guy who also sang the very popular Hawa Hawa. Dil Hai Deewaana offers no surprise. Colors, dances, outfits are on point – but that’s just not enough is it now? 4. Khabbi Seat – @ammyvirk x @sweetajbrarofficial @mixsingh
Khabbi Seat is the latest from Burfi Music – sung by Punjabi singer, activist and actor Ammy Virk. featuring Sweetaj Brar. The lyrics are by Happy Raikoti and produced by Mix Singh. This song is a visual and musical treat. It takes the lines of bandook and jatt – I mean every second song from our thriving Punjabi music industry – but the way the words might be what they are – the way it is sung, produced and presented – it’s just such a simple and soothing watch and listen! 5. Tere Bina – @kulshansandhuofficial x @gursidhuinsta – VIP records – Kulshan Sandhu – Music – Gur Sidhu
Honestly, as soon as the song starts – that background music – just gets you. Super sweet and simple – that’s just how it goes 🙂 VIP records always does focus on the environment outdoors and they let us know that. Gur Sidhu at 2:07 drops vocals as well – and both Sidhu and Sandhu have voices that will be around for a while.
