Jay Sean Took On Times Square
Starting in New York City, British Asian music legend, Jay Sean took over Times Square at the Diwali in Times Square event. This was the largest gathering in Times Square aside from the New Year’s Eve celebrations. He rocked an amazing performance and was featured in a billboard ad right in the center of Times Square.

Sean was so proud of the performance and feature, as he should be! Sean and his wife, Thara Natalie had the honor of lighting up the Empire State building in orange for Diwali as well.
Live Tinted x Phenomenal’s Girl Boss Dinner
Live Tinted and Phenomenal are two extraordinary companies run by South Asian women. Deepica Mutyala, founder of Live Tinted, and Meena Harris, founder of Phenomenal joined forces to create an awesome Diwali collection. To celebrate the holiday and collaboration, screenwriter, producer, actress, writer, and comedian Mindy Kaling hosted the party! This epic girl boss event featured some of mainstream media’s most talented South Asian females at their Diwali dinner.
The party included actress, host, and comedians Lilly Singh and Liza Koshy, actress Priyanka Chopra and her manager the entrepreneurial Anjula Acharia, “Never Have I Ever” stars Poorna Jagannathan and Richa Moorjani. Actress and producer Melanie Chandra, writer and director Sujata Dey, Vanity Fair’s editor-in-chief Radhika Jones, ClassPass founder Payal Kadakia Pujji, and actress and writer Punam Patel were also in attendance.
The looks these ladies served absolutely killed the party. Hosts Kaling in her indigo Falguni Shane Peacock lehenga, Mutyala in her gold Live the Collective sari, and Harris in her Arias New York dress all looked ‘phenomenal.’ Check out all the action from the fantastic dinner!

Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas’ Epic Diwali Party
Priyanka Chopra-Jonas blew into the scene with all her desi girl sparkle and showed Hollywood how to party! Chopra-Jonas and her husband, Nick started the celebrations at home with the traditional puja. It is beautiful to see how lovingly Nick has accepted his wife’s Hindu traditions and actively takes part in them. The respect he shows her culture says a lot about not just their love, but also the quality of his character and upbringing. This is Priyanka and Nick’s first Diwali in their first home together, a memorable night for sure. The couple looked stunning themselves with Nick in a Sabyasachi outfit and Priyanka wearing a Falguni Shane Peacock lehenga. Their friends came to slay at this party, just look at these gorgeous guests in their desi best!

Singer Tesher found international fame with his hit ‘Jalebi Baby’ featuring Jason Derulo. The artist is changing the face of urban desi music, and this Diwali he’s taken on a new venture, fitness! Well, sort of. You can now tune into your Peloton workout with Aditi Shah that is set to a playlist curated by Tesher. The Diwali special is live on Peloton now!

Comedian, actress, and host Lilly Singh is the queen of representing her desi culture. It is no surprise she joined forces with every Desi uncle’s best friend, Johnnie Walker, to do a culturally appropriate ad that hits you in the feels.
