DissDash presents Tune-in-Tuesdays with @MontyIsLive | Episode 42
We have 5 latest music videos from the world of Bollywood, Urban Desi, Punjabi, and the overall global South Asian independent scene all creatively curated just for you!
1. What Ve – Diljit Dosanjh x Nimrat Khaira
Diljit Dosanjh with ‘What Ve’ tries to showcase what he really is – a flow of English lyrics, mixed with Punjabi lyrics and a very cute video. We like this video because it is fun and it has nothing to do with serious topics which we see in music videos these days. This song is adorable, just music and nothing else.
2. Too Much – Garry Sandhu
The issue with Punjabi artists and Garry Sandhu is the song is not always fresh. This one slightly is. At 2.20 if you pay attention there is a beautiful female vocalist who is supposedly homeless. We tried finding her but could not. But this particular song is something that is required right now because we now tired about the whole Sidhu Moosewala, AP Dhillon, Karan Aujla vibe and it is too monotonous. Garry Sandhu with ‘Too Much’ kind of brings it back and the only reason it works, because they don’t do too much experimentation. Keep the audiences alive and it is a fun song.
3. Jazba – Naalayak
Every week we try to put an artist who needs attention. ‘Jazba’ released two days ago, but still has 7.5 thousand views and it is a song an adrenaline rush which is natural. It will give you an high without any drugs. There are no people in the video, there is no scenery, it is just 3D animation and you feel like you are in the Netflix documentary “14 Peaks”. ‘Jazba’ is a beautiful song and you should watch it for the animation.
4. Dance Meri Rani – Guru Randhawa ft. Nora Fatehi x Zahrah Khan
Guru Randhawa from Southall to Patola to this has evolved downwards. He says the word Naach or dance 25 times, in less than 30 seconds. Yes, we counted. So the song is 3 minutes and 25 Naches every 30 seconds. You can do the math! Why? Tseries has the money for production, money for the VFX, Guru and Zara Khan are good vocalists. Nora Fatehi looks absolute delight, she is a mermaid in this video. Yes these songs are for the masses, but we don’t need it now.
5. Fateh x Raghav – In-Studio performance by Mosaic Soundz
This is like the Urban desi version of Coke Studio. Here Raghav’s ‘Angel Eyes’ fuses with Toronto’s Fateh with brand new 2 verses and this is a live performance. We are not rating this but just want you to know that this stuff is out there.
