DissDash presents Tune-in-Tuesdays with @MontyIsLive | Episode 53 | Tribute To Sidhu Moosewala
In this episode, we have a special tribute to Sidhu Moosewala. Born on the 11th of June 1993 in a small village named Moosa of the Mansa District in Punjab, India – who knew that he would not only be one of the most prolific, inspiring but also straight the f up artists in the global music scene. He might have started by just writing music – but his craft for creativity, art, and just overall doing things bigger and better – kept him consistent and beyond relevant. Whether it’s the initial fame with Brown Boys – I mean so high is an anthem for a generation – the way Moosetape was presented and his features with not just other South Asian artists but the respect and credibility he garnered from his mainstream global musical counterparts. On Sunday, May 29, 2022, the world comprising millions of fans and followers that are nothing short of family had to unexpectedly bid farewell to Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu Moosewala. Let’s take a look at a few of his music videos in remembrance:
1. G Wagon – Sidhu Moosewala | Deep Jandu
This was right after he started writing for Ninja when he first dabbled into becoming a vocalist in mid 2017.
2. SO HIGH – Sidhu Moose Wala ft. BYG BYRD
How can we not think about this one? ‘So High’ was his official debut track that changed the scene forever.
3. 47 – Sidhu Moosewala x MIST x Steel Banglez x Stefflon Don
This track with UK artist Steel Banglez and Stefflon Don is a piece of art, both vocally and visually.
4. 295 – Sidhu Moose Wala | The Kidd
It is as if he knew that 29th of May, 2022 was about to come. We highly recommend you to google the translation of the entire track if you don’t understand Punjabi.
5. LEVELS – Sidhu Moose Wala ft. Sunny Malton | The Kidd
His USA Canada tour was publicly announced. Sunny Malton and Sidhu Moosewala were officially back. ‘Levels’ his last track released with a music video was on another level. If you don’t take out word for it, just watch it.
He is one of the promising talents to emerge from the burgeoning hip hop landscape from his native state of Punjab and he put Punjabi hip hop on the global map. Caught between his life growing up in the Pind, his rise to international fame and his eventual strides into politics, Moosewala’s life was full of complexities, that he attempted to untangle through his music. He had just one purpose to inspire, uplift and motivate others around him. It is hard to fathom the loss of this relentless, sharp and authentic artist. It is a devastating loss of an individual that was shaping and creating culture as we know it. Rest in peace, Sidhu Moosewala.

Not competent enough to sit idle and stare as the world goes by, Pallavi is optimistic to a fault and believes in building her world on her own rather than depending on others to make things right.
