We are three quarters into 2022 and it seems like this year is filled with throwback fashion trends. From the 80s silhouettes to 90s slips to Y2K flamboyance, 2022 seems to be all about taking inspiration from retro fashion. You must be thinking that it’s not new for fashion enthusiasts to be heavily encouraged from the past, considering how millennials live on nostalgia, but we assure you, this year, the looks are far more experimental.
We have seen our favorite celebrities really play around with mixing and matching different eras together into one retro-meets-modern look. And boy, we love them all! The platform sandals, low-rise jeans, sparkly ensembles, and more, these vintage style trends are taking over, and how!
Y2K is so back in style – All of those fun looks that shot to popularity in the late 90s and early 2000s are back in our wardrobes. We are talking low-rise jeans, thick belts, neon colors, cargo pants, and more. Sunita Mani gave a big nod to the trend in this green co-ord set.
Printed Scarves – This vintage trend is stirring a fashion tsunami. Print scarves might just be all the chicness that an outfit needs. Tie it around your head, like Katrina Kaif, or neck, or even on your handbag for that extra-ness.
Prints, Prints, & More Prints – If something stands out from the 70s, it is the carefree energy in outfits. The contrasting shades, geometric patterns, loud prints, and more are strongly connected to yesteryear fashion. The trend is everywhere, especially in men’s fashion, thanks to our quirk King, Ranveer Singh.
Black & White Love – When it comes to the ethnic look, the retro-inspired saree takes the cake. Nothing more 70s than Alia Bhatt in this black and white saree – another reminder of why we are so obsessed with vintage fashion.
Pantsuits – ‘Never Have I Ever’ star Poorna Jagannathan redefined the age-old classic pantsuits, and we are here for it!
Monochrome Look – Bright monochrome pantsuits have been a rage over the years, and the trend is here to stay. Sidharth Malhotra turned heads with his retro look that he completed with a pair of quirky sneakers.
Polka Dots – Yesteryear’s fashion quotient was something to marvel at. Bouffant hairstyles and polka dots were the style favorite. Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty took us to the nostalgia land in a beautiful white saree with polka dots, showing us how it’s done!
Flared Jeans – They are comfortable and chic, and are becoming increasingly popular. Playful, easy, and flirty, Ananya Panday’s is fun and cherry—a perfect reminder as to why we are so obsessed with the vintage style trends.
Sunglasses – When it comes to yesteryear accessories, sunglasses are something we love to borrow. Global star Priyanka Chopra’s favorite pairs have a distinctly nostalgic flavor.
