NYCWaleDesi Presents First-Ever “Desi Dance Fest 2022”
NYCWaleDesi is organizing the first-ever South Asian Dance Festival, named “Desi Dance Fest 2022”.
The main event is set to take place on Saturday, November 5, 2022, in New York City Center featuring the six talented South Asian Instructors of varying genres – Swarali Karulkar (Bollyheels), Afrodesi (fusion), Tushita Shrivastav (Bhangra Fusion), Vinita Hazari (Bolly items) and Shiamak USA (BollyHop) and a headliner Instructor Rohit Gijare (Bollywood fusion), along with an official After Party featuring the sensational guest headliner Himanshu Dulani and some of the most well-known dance influencers Revati Mahurkar, The Bollyhopper, Amita Batra, Tanya Thanawalla, Jahan Umi, Drisya Reghuram, and Jainil Mehta.
“With Desi Dance Fest, I really aspire to bring a new type of community event together for the dance community. I hope it creates a space for dancers of all levels and types and that we can make this into an annual celebration of the country’s South Asian dancers and enthusiasts,” said founder Monica Ahuja.
The fest will officially start on the evening of Thursday, November 3 with an exclusive invite-only Meet and Greet event hosted by Brown Girl Magazine with all of the event’s headliners, marketing sponsors (Desi Saturdays and Bollyshake) along with official media partner, DissDash. The purpose of this event is for like-minded creatives and dancers to mingle and socialize ahead of the main event on Saturday, November 5.
The main event on November 5 will consist of a half-day of six multi-genre instructional dance workshops from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at NY City Center. Following the dance workshops, there will be an after-party with live performances between 11 PM and 4 AM at HK Hall.
The organizers believe that this is a wonderful mutually-beneficial networking and exposure opportunity within the South Asian community and a great opportunity to mingle with fellow dancers from New York City and across the country. Get your tickets right here.
