Who Rolls Better? Fine Wine Or Neena Gupta?
The entertainment industry is infamous for discarding actresses as they age, but Bollywood veteran Neena Gupta is definitely a contradiction here. Always known for her acting chops, today she is rolling better than any fine wine.
Her latest movie, “Uunchai” is her first ever Sooraj Barjatiya film, something that has been on her bucket list for a long time. Speaking to PTI, she said, “For me, Rajshri Productions is really too big and while I was growing up I often tried to meet Sooraj Ji but never got the chance. Finally, I got this film, it is unbelievable.”
Neena Gupta is a powerhouse. She has succeeded in tearing apart every rulebook handed down to women and has still succeeded in making her own way. From being a single mother to taking up progressive roles which were way ahead of her time, she has one-upped patriarchy in the truest sense.

When female actors in the ’80s and ’90s were still playing damsels running around the trees, Gupta was challenging the norm by portraying strong leads in unconventional stories. At the age of 58, she fearlessly put out a video on Social Media asking for work and telling the world that she was ready to audition, yet again proving how unbothered she was about the regulations and stereotypes of the world.
Today Neena Gupta has a stream of movies and series that have made her famous amongst the current generation. From “Masaba Masaba” to “Badhai Ho” she has kept alive her fans while making Millennials and Gen Z her fans too.

Neena Gupta will be next seen in the film “Baa” directed by Hardik Gajjar, R Balki’s segment of “Lust Stories 2”, “Shiv Shastri Balboa” alongside Anupam Kher and anthology “Ishq E Naadan” with her 1998-99 “Saans” co-star Kanwaljit Singh, a series that catapulted her to fame to lead strong women roles.
We are sure we will be seeing much more of Neena Gupta and we are going to love every minute of it.
