Canadian recording artist and actor, Rup Magon becomes brand ambassador for Thaze Competition, the first Sikh to become the ambassador of a motorsport brand!

Thaze, which means ‘fast’ in Punjabi, is a Detroit-based GT4 Racing team that reached the Podium in its debut race this past weekend. When asked about his experience in pit lane, Magon replied “Motorsports has always fascinated me, but there was hardly any desi representation in the sport, until now. Co-owners Faisal and Brian of the team are amazing to work with”.

As he says on his Instagram post, when he was initially asked to be an ambassador of the Thaze racing team, Magon had no idea what he was getting himself into!

“Fast forward a few years and I’ve just experienced racing at a new level: right from Pit Lane!”

He goes on to mention that it was Thaze Competition’s 1st race ever, and they finished in an unbelievable 3rd Place. A rare debut podium, the equivalent of scoring on your first shift in the NHL, or hitting a century in your first cricket match!

“Our drivers Mark Miler and Michael Di Meo were rockstars and our entire team was magic! Everyone checked their egos at the door and worked as a dream unit. Thank you to you all for your guidance and letting me be a small part of this incredible pie! I honestly cannot wait for the next race! It’s in Canada!”

The next race for Thaze is in Toronto on July 8th at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, the multi-faceted singer became the first Canadian Sikh to snag both MTV India and MTV Pakistan awards. He is known best as a recording artist (lead singer JoSH the band) and as an actor (“The Black Prince”, CBC’s “Decoys“). His involvement in the film industry, although nascent, has been impalpable.

Becoming the brand ambassador of the Thaze Competition is another feather in his hat, proclaiming Rup Magon as the quintessential representation of all things desi in Canada..
