Live Tinted x Barbie Collab Has Representation On-point

As kids, we all owned at least one Barbie. Every South Asian girl aspired to be like her Barbie doll – blonde-haired, fair-skinned, and a delicate darling.
Meet 2022’s Barbie. Her skin is tinted, her eyes big, and her brows bold. She wears her jhumkas & bangles proud with her power suit. She is ready to take on the world. Her identity is hers.
As Deepica Mutyala, Founder and CEO of Live Tinted wrote on her Instagram, “She breaks cultural barriers; aims high with intention. Leads with empathy & kindness. A fearless go-getter with a deep desire to make an impact in the world. She’s a CEO. THIS is the new Barbie.”
“Our dream collab with THE BARBIE is here just in time for Women’s History Month. HUGE shoutout to the @barbiestyle team for creating this one-of-a-kind doll to celebrate our collab! It was so important to me for young girls out there to see a South Asian American Barbie, paving her own path and turning her dreams into a reality by unapologetically being herself.”
This doll isn’t for sale yet, but we really hope it comes up soon!
We are just as excited as Mutyala for this visual representation.
Live Tinted, the inclusive beauty brand that explores diverse beauty for “every shade in between” focuses on underrepresented people in beauty. So when the Barbie brand decided to highlight a South Asian CEO as part of its first-ever #BarbieStyleCollection for #WomensHistoryMonth, it feels like the next step towards creating a more inclusive world for the next generation.
After becoming a YouTube sensation, Deepica Mutyala launched Live Tinted in 2019 with her award-winning Huestick, a 4-in-1 multistick color corrector to balance discoloration and dark spots. It also became popular as an eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick. This prompted the brand to expand into even more multi-use products. If you haven’t used the Huesticks — in 10 diverse shades — to create a pretty monochromatic look, you’re missing out. They are just so good!
Last year, Live Tinted also became the first South Asian-owned brand at Ulta Beauty, following up on their announcement of a $25 million fund for its diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
Don’t miss the “Barbie You Can Be Anything Series” premiering on March 5th.

Not competent enough to sit idle and stare as the world goes by, Pallavi is optimistic to a fault and believes in building her world on her own rather than depending on others to make things right.
