The 75th Cannes Film Festival has officially begun—and with it, comes the glamorous red carpet. This year is extra special as India has been chosen as the first-ever ‘Country of Honor’ at Marche du Cinema.
On opening day, a delegation from India, led by the country’s I&B Minister Anurag Thakur, walked the red carpet which included musical maestros, renowned filmmakers, and actors who represent a diversity from various regions, languages, mainstream, and OTT led cinema.
So, who wore what? Here, we take a look at the red carpet style of the Indian contingent who took over Cannes 2022.
Deepika Padukone – Jury Member

She has served not one, but three looks so far. During the media interaction of the Cannes jury panel, the actress donned a chic, yet semi-casual ensemble designed by Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. On day one on Cannes 2022 red carpet, Padukone wowed in a black and gold Sabyasachi saree. For day 2, she opted for a classy look in an all-black pantsuit.
The Black & White Brigade – Tamannah Bhatia, Urvashi Rautela, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

While Tamannah Bhatia opted for a smart bubble hem black and white gown designed by New Delhi-based luxury brand Gauri & Nainika, Urvashi Rautella had her ‘Snow White’ moment as she made her Cannes debut this year in an elaborate white one-shoulder tulle gown. And of course, the Indian queen of Cannes and L’Oréal’s representative, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made hearts stop, once again, with her elegant beauty in a black gown that had a billowing silhouette with floral accents and an extension of 3D flowers on one sleeve.
Dapper Men In Tow – R Madhavan, and Ricky Kej

R Madhavan attended the Cannes 2022 red carpet as his upcoming film “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect” is set to premiere at the prestigious festival. The actor donned a Manish Malhotra suit and looked dapper. Grammy 2022 winner Ricky Kej made a statement by repeating his Grammy outfit. We are surely rooting for sustainability and fashion and what a way to do it!
The Glowing Cannes Debutants – Pooja Hegde and Helly Shah

Famous South Indian actress Pooja Hedge did not disappoint in her Cannes debut! For the red carpet, she opted for a pink sleeveless gown that featured feather details. Meanwhile, wow! is the reaction for Indian TV actress Helly Shah who sparkled in a shimmery green gown with sheer details.
The internet is flooded with pictures from Cannes 2022. From actors to content creators, everyone is making the festival trend with their presence. Masoom Minawala, Rahi Chadda, Farhana Bodi, Malvika Sitlani, and Diipa Buller-Khosla are surely and famously upping the glam quotient of the French resort town.

I dip my pen in a pot of fashion and attempt to write words of appreciation in art.
